Longspine Murex Indivia
Ever popular longspine murex sea shells are quite often colourful but our murex indivia shells are just as renowned for their ornate structure and spiney body which does make them prickly to touch – still, that should keep them from disappearing too frequently from your decorative seashell display. We think these longspine murexes display best with pearlised trochas and white pointer starfish as the black and white body of these shells works with neutral colours for seashell decor. So if you are thinking of decorating with seashells this shell should be on your list.
9 to 10 cms
Foxhead Seashells x 3
A limited offer for three good sized foxhead seashells – these are sometimes referred to as tulip shells and at approximately 10 cms in length you are getting 3 for the price of one and we are not sure how we do it!! Lots of similar limited offers online for the next few months!
Turbo Silvermouth Shells
These Turbo Silvermouth shells are the pearlised versions of our other turbos so silvery in colour and with that swirl our turbo shells all seem to have. We also have these in larger sizes, but the 5 to 8 cms are the most popular for ocean themed decor and work nicely in displays with our pearlised trochas. If ordering in quantity please email us for a price quotation. Please note that with all our seashells, colourings and shapes will vary as they are, of course, a natural product. These silvermouths however are fairly regular in style and appearance. A popular one for wedding decor again this year.
5 to 8 cms
Spotted Conus Shell
There are certainly many types of cone shell ( we estimate at least 500 species of cone shells ) and these are fine examples from the Condidae family measuring at least 6 cms long. There is such a wide variety of colour patterns and this has made them firm favourites with shell lovers and collectors the world over. Paintings from voyagers and discovers in the 16th century when discovering the New World sometimes feature these seashells. Cone shells are quite heavy and strong and there is an absence of “teeth” in the Conidae family. In their live form some cone shells can inject a virulent poison! Exceptionally these can grow as large as 15 cms! Their range is Indo Pacific in the areas of the Phillipines and Indonesia.
Ornamental Carrier Seashell
Aptly named carrier shells ornamenting their dwellings and measuring approx. 5 cms across with stones, other shells and even sponges attached to their shell…. all joining the party! Renowned for their beauty and usually found in and around the Philippines (Western Pacific). Those being “carried” provide a defence for the carrier shell and contribute to a unique and exquisite sculpture. From the family Xenophoridae. We try to exhibit as many seashells as possible in our shop so if you are in striking distance of London or the West Country, our little bricks and mortar shop is full to the rafters and worth a visit. We also try to respond to text messages within a couple of hours on 07711247762.
Light Brown Melongena Shell
